A myth that has been surrounding Marilyn Monroe since she was in her 20’s was whether or not she had six toes.

This rumor came about when a photographer by the name of Joseph Jasgur photographed Marilyn Monroe in 1946, when she was in her 20’s.  When one of the photographs was released, with Monroe posing on the beach in a bikini with her toes exposed.  A small clump of sand was formed around her left foot, which created an illusion of having a sixth toe.

The reality is that she never had six toes, it was just an illusion created by some sand.  Unfortunately the photographer decided to create some publicity by publishing this photo and then falsely accusing her of having six toes.

This is not true, many other photographs have been taken and Monroe only had five toes.  She was born with five toes and died with five toes.  This was all just created as a publicity stunt by a photographer desperate for some additional attention.

Recent Research being done is suggesting that genetics may be a contributing factor for alcoholism.  At this point researchers have been unable to pinpoint the specific gene that causes this over reliance on alcohol; but circumstantial evidence seems to point in a specific correlation.

Studies done show that Alcoholic’s Children are 4 times more likely to become alcoholics, based on a study done by the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.  However, it is noted that environmental factors could play a large role in this.

However, the study has been extended to rule out the influence of environmental factors.  In 1990, Blum et al. found a significant correlation between the A1 allele of the DRD2 gene and alcoholism.  The DRD2 gene is found to have a strong correlation to alcoholism.

Interestingly enough, if the findings prove to be correct; this might significantly change how drug rehab is treated in the future.  If this proves true alcohol treatment and addiction recovery may look completely different.  Now drug rehab is mainly treated with a support system, however, if the gene can be properly identified and genetic medical advances are made, one day a family could treat this gene prior to the infant ever being born.  Additionally, one day medicine might be discovered to mask the genetic influence that the body has over alcohol.

Every year it seems you hear about teens trying everything under the sun to get high.  One year it might be butane from lighters, over dosing on Robotism, or even choking each other.  It never seizes to amaze me what these teens will think of next.

New reports are finding that Nitrous Oxide Charged Whipped Cream Dispensers are a new favorite drug among teens.  It is always an unsuspecting sale to a teen at a cake and cream supply store, when the teen tells you he is buying the whipped cream dispenser and cream charger to make a cake for his mother; only to find out later that he and his friends are using it to get high.

Nitrous Oxide, known as laughing gas produces a euphoric feeling; this drug is used often times at a dental office as a pain killer.

Unfortunately, without being properly administered by a trained professional this drug can produce long lasting permanent damage to the lungs and brain.   It is important that if you suspect a teen is using nitrous Oxide Charged whipped cream dispensers to get high, that you contact the authorities,  in doing so you could be saving a life.

Those of us who have children are used to product recalls; we keep our eyes open for recalls on baby food, toys, and other infant merchandise.  Normally all major recalls will make their way to the National News.

However, many of us are not aware that just as frequently our pets are at risk.  Major pet supply manufactures have issued many recalls over the years.  Often times there is no news about this and the public, by large, has no idea that something they bought could pose a hazard to their pets.

For instance in 2010 Procter & Gamble, manufacturer of Lams & Eukanuba dog foods, recalled certain varieties of this pet food because it was contaminated with salmonella.  Not only did this pose a possible threat to the dogs, it could also pose a threat to humans as this could be transmitted by the animal licking someone after they have eaten the food.

The survey included thousands of employed individuals all across North America. Highly trained professionals such as lawyers and doctors, ironically, ranked a close second and third next to security guards and security officers.

Thousands of security personnel weighed in on their current occupation. Over 85% of them mentioned that they didn’t mind if their children followed them in their footsteps. More than 95% of them indicated that they saw themselves working until retirement age in the security industry.

Polls across dozens of North American security agencies are consistent with the findings of the survey.

Jonathan Demuse, a twenty-eight year old security officer from Detroit claims that he wouldn’t trade his job for anything. “I didn’t have to spend money for eight more years of school to get where I am,” Demuse says. “It took a lot of training, perseverance and hard work, but my family and I are reaping the benefits.”

Speaking of benefits, security jobs are known to have a substantial amount of benefits that have only increased along with the demand for it over the years.

Still, any security officer looking to make a name for his or herself is required to go through adequate and rigorous training before he or she can be deployed on the field. But in the end, the job ends up paying good dividends.

This is a bit of good news considering that the industry was facing a job satisfaction slump of no less than 35% more than three years ago.
